MWH Pipeline

Project Overview

Cenovus Energy retained Tridyne Projects Corporation to provide engineering, procurement, regulatory and construction support for the installation of a new pipeline system and facility tie-ins as part of the brackish water supply expansion.

The project included the repurpose and reversal of an existing 28km, NPS 12 disposal pipeline, 3.8km of
new NPS 12 pipeline, installation of a High Density Polyethylene liner into the below ground pipe and new
duplex stainless steel above ground facilities for the conversion into a brackish water service. Existing
belowground expansion loops had to be replaced with straight pipe and several pull point flanges welded
on for the installation of the HDPE liner.

The scope of work included the review of an existing pipeline integrity program, procurement support of the Inline Inspection tool vendor, preparation support for the smart tool runs (DEF, GMFL, XYZ), an engineering assessment of the inspection results, and an integrity plan consisting of verification digs, physical inspection methods, and pipe repairs.

Tridyne also completed a transient hydraulic analysis of the converted system with varying MOPs, construction alignment sheets, multiple AER shapefiles and applications, material procurement, 3rd party material inspections and logistics coordination.
